Oct 04, 2013 · Back again with a question, I've been using my 1947 Bridgeport mill a LOT lately and it takes the small collets, can only go up to 1/2" though....A friend came over the other day and looking at the mill wondered WHY it took such small collets with a spindle THAT big....Its a M head 1947, is it possible it has a adapter in it for these collets and could take 5C?

Jan 11, 2008 · On a Bridgeport, you need to drop the spindle out of the quill but not all the way. Loosen the set screw on the back of the quill at the bottom and remove the bottom retainer. The quill should fall out at least part way. Put some wood blocks under it on the table. There is set screw hole in the spindle where the locator goes.
